A Message from the Head Coach, Tracy McCartney

Welcome! Returning and new swimmers! It will be an exciting season as the world and Canada prepare for the 2012 Olympic Games. The atmosphere surely will be embraced by all levels of athletes and hopefully will encourage everyone to participate to great heights no matter what level they participate at.

The Ontario Summer Games is also scheduled for August 2012. During the last Summer Games four Marlins were selected to the team; let’s strive for the same success this year. The team did a great job at the Team Championship Meets and also at meets which they focused on just their individual achievements. Once again eight swimmers achieved the Ontario Provincial standards, one swimmer achieved Age Group National times and four swimmers qualified for the Regional Training Camps.

Last year the team doubled in size and it took a good part of the season to adjust to accommodating the number of swimmers into the space and time available for our practices. With the schedules and pool space now well established we will be able to once again start the season with a more organized approach to sharing the time and space.
A good part of our success last season came from working together encouraging and challenging each other in the pool.

Swimmers really worked hard at beating the sets and encouraging others to keep going even when it was tough to do so. When you improve in practice you will improve at your competition. Practice is really where the hard work needs to happen, the swim meet is just the forum to show off all of your hard work and the results allow you to measure your success.

Unfortunately most people don’t believe that they can be great, they are afraid to tell themselves that they can. But why can’t you? Talk yourself into it, allow it to happen, to be great at whatever it is you want to be great at.
