President’s Message

Welcome to the start of another exciting swimming season. We will continue to develop the best competitive swimming program that the north can offer! We can only do this with the support of our parents and the will and determination of our swimmers. With the guidance from our Head Coach Tracy McCartney we will continue the club’s legacy of developing great young athletes.

As a club, our focus is to assist our swimmers in the pursuit of swimming excellence so that they can set and attain personal performance goals, and to BE THE BEST THEY CAN BE.

This past year the club hosted two excellent regional swim meets, and the successful Heart of Gold Triathlon. A special thank you goes out to Ron Lapointe, Chris Salvador, and Verna Doucette. There were many hours behind the scenes to ensure the Triathlons success.

Thank you to Verna, for spearheading the Easter Basket Draw last season. The funds were used to reduce swimmer expenses for the Team Champs journey to Brantford. Yes, we did defend our position and we remain in Division Two. Brantford is on our schedule again this season!!!

As you may or may not know, it takes a great deal of preparation, co operation, and continued support to make this swim club successful. We are very fortunate to have a dedicated volunteer executive to ensure the club operates smoothly for all of our swimmers and coaching staff. Thank you to the executive for your countless hours. New this season are Kathy Rideout Vice President and equipment specialist, and Chantal Riopel our wonderful Bingo Coordinator.

The club is very fortunate to be represented at our regional level, Peter Jurenovskis is the president of NEOR, Chris Salvador and Ron Lapointe are also on the executive. Thank you from the Marlins for your ongoing support.

This year we will continue to improve club communications and parent involvement. This year thanks to Susan Boisvert there will be a monthly newsletter for you to refer to. Bravo Susan!! This past spring we were approved for a NEOnetĀ BEAMĀ Grant. This grant will assist in the costs for most needed upgrades to our Website. Stay tuned we should up and running for the end of September.

The executive and I invite you to volunteer and take an officials course. You need to grow with the club and your swimmer. Competitive swimming is a wonderful sport, please support your child’s endeavours by becoming directly involved.

We have a great organization. We should all look forward to an exciting swim season.

Yours in swimming,

Cheryl Holland
